PAR Banya & SPA: a contemporary sanctuary of wellbeing in Enric Granados

PAR Banya & SPA, located at Enric Granados 85, reinterprets the essence of traditional banyas —Slavic steam baths conceived as spaces of purification, calm and social connection— through a fully contemporary architectural lens. This project proposes a sensory experience where body, materiality and silence coexist in harmony.

Designed by Neu Estudi, the project begins with a clear intention: to preserve and reveal the identity of the existing space. Rather than hiding its original character, the design creates an honest dialogue between the old and the new. The result is a serene, essential and deeply sensorial architecture that elevates the idea of collective wellbeing.

The layout is defined by the insertion of autonomous volumes within the existing structure. These independent yet integrated elements maintain the spatial continuity that is fundamental to the banya experience. Nothing is fragmented unnecessarily; instead, the volumes breathe and relate to one another, creating a fluid sequence where users can move with calmness and intention.

The furniture follows the same architectural language. The loungers —a key element of the project— are conceived as dense, almost stone-like volumes that seem to emerge naturally from the space. Their presence conveys stability, grounding and a quiet introspection that reinforces the atmosphere of the banya.

PAR Banya & SPA is, ultimately, an urban refuge where tradition evolves into contemporary wellbeing. A place designed to reconnect with the body through heat, steam, and silent architecture.
